FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Democratic Republic of Congo:Although they have vast lands and abundant resources, the country fell into poverty and is underdeveloped due to civil war. Terrorists have devastated many of the churches in the northern provinces, imprisoning and murdering Christians. Pray for the warmongers to put down their weapons and seek peace, and for the comforting and salvation of the Lord to accompany the ministry of the EHC team to heal the suffering.
  2. B) EHC Tanzania:Kigoma in the west is deeply entrenched in traditional superstition, leading to the marginalization of women and albinos. Villagers in Uvinza and Ujiji, once slave markets, live in constant oppression. Pray for the Gospel’s power to flow through the EHC team’s ministry and free those in bondage, granting them new life and new hope.
  3. C) EHC Mauritius:Thanks be to God, He has opened the way for the team’s volunteers to bear abundant fruit in their outreach, transforming lives for the Lord. Pray for the Lord to inspire churches and pastors who have yet to participate in their ministry to work with the team and reach out to the unsaved for God’s kingdom.

CCIS PLANNING AND CHALLENGES

Many churches and brethren have lent their strong support to the charity screening of the movie “King of kings”. Aside from supporting the ministry’s needs, they also invited many non-believer friends and relatives to attend the screening, sharing with them the message that Jesus is the King of kings and the Saviour of mankind. We thank God that the screening raised S$11,446.50. However, the committee still needs to redouble efforts to meet this year’s budget of S$350,000. Hopefully, the fundraising dinner at Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine on 09 September will attract the enthusiastic support and response of the churches and brethren, bringing everyone together in support of proclaiming the Gospel in Christmas. Please pray for God’s guidance and grace for all the planning and programmes.

“Q&A OF THE GOSPEL HANDBOOK” – EQUIPPING YOU TO ANSWER PRE-BELIEVERS

Any truly saved Christian would naturally speak about their faith and share the Gospel when talking to others. They would of course also face scepticism from non-believers, so they need to be well-prepared if they want to lead others to the Lord with gentleness and respect. The author, Elder Samuel Ching, lists 118 Q&As in the book addressing the doubts and challenges faced by believers in handling this issue. The book has Chinese, English and Tamil versions. Apart from equipping believers to lead others to Christ, it is also a good read for pre-believers and new Christians who wish to learn more about salvation. Please make good use of it and also recommend it to your friends.

SEHC MINISTRY UPDATES – PLEASE PRAY FOR AND SUPPORT US

This March, our bookroom gave away 482 books and booklets, including 84 copies of Children’s Bible to JB’s Kailer Christian Church and Grace Covenant Community Care, Golden Bible Stories (72) to local churches and believers, Children’s Bible (40) to Charis Methodist Church for outreach in the Philippines, and other books including: Our Daily Focus (52), The Best Story Gospel Booklet (20), Love on Its Knees (14), The Best Gift (22), Journey of Life’s Growth (12), and various other titles (166). Pray for the readers to be edified through them. In this digital age, many waste their time loitering in cyberspace, including many Christians who then neglect their Bible study and spiritual reading. SEHC strives to promote literary ministry and needs the collaboration of church leaders to enrich the spiritual lives of believers so they can become pleasing followers of the Lord.

DISCIPLESHIP AND EVANGELISM IN CREATIVE ACCESS REGIONS

EHC in Country M: Since 2017, the team has been collaborating with churches to print tracts for evangelism in their offshore islands and recorded many audio messages in different languages for their various ethnic groups. The island was ravaged by a tornado last year, and the churches poured in all their resources to help the victims, which included many from other religions. Pray for these righteous acts to demonstrate God’s love and touch hearts for the Lord.

EHC in Country H: The team plans to visit remote towns to evangelize the unsaved. They also have a special burden for the deaf and blind to be touched by the Gospel. Pray for God to open the way for the fulfilment of their yearly evangelistic goals.

EHC in Country G: The team found out that a brother in Christ who was pastoring a church got arrested because of his ministry. Unfortunately, they were unable to obtain more details. Pray for God to shield the brother with His mighty hands, and grant His protection to him, his family, and everyone else who knows him.

“REFLECTING ON OUR PURITY OF FAITH” / “62 BIBLICAL BLESSINGS” – UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE BETTER

The first book, written by Dr. Wu Guo An, addresses many problems in Christianity today, including the Charismatic movement, Success theology, and the Shouters. It also explores topics on church teachings such as Baptism, Remembrance of the Lord, Hymns and worship, Wearing of veils, Laying on of hands, Sunday Service, The calling to serve, and Eternal security. The latter book by Rev. Samuel Ching lists God’s promises in the Old and New Testaments and explains what the Lord meant by one who is blessed. The author hopes to inspire readers to seek these blessings and become blessed in the eyes of God the father. These books are useful for those who seek to grow spiritually. Pray for their use in God’s work.

“SCIENCE, EVOLUTION, AND CREATION” / “NEW BELIEVER’S COURSE” – LINKING SCIENCE AND FAITH

The first book by Bro. Tian Zhuo contains 21 chapters with topics including: Subjects of scientific research, Scientific classification, The limits of science, and The transcendency of Christianity. The latter book by Elder Samuel Ching is suitable for newly baptized believers and Christians who need to catch up on their fundamental knowledge of God’s word. Each of its 15 lessons reference relevant verses from scripture and provide easy-to-understand explanations. Both books are suitable gifts for new believers. 30,000 of the latter will be reprinted in APAC. Pray for the readers to have a deeper understanding of the Truth.

“7 STEPS TO BLESSINGS” / “IS THERE A GOD” – BLESSINGS FROM ABOVE

The first book by Bro. Ford of Jabbock discusses how one can claim God’s blessings. It targets the suffering in this world we live in through topics such as Keeping one’s heart pure, God is watching your deeds, Different levels of pursuing blessings, Don’t end up in hell, and Eternal blessings rest in Jesus. The latter book, written by Rev. Samuel Lamb, demonstrates the existence of God through the following arguments: 1. Though our eyes may not see Him, 2. We can see Him through His work in creation, 3. Creation is amazing, 4. Life is amazing, and 5. Other supporting evidence. Both these booklets are excellent evangelistic tools. Pray that these books will edify many.

“THE HOUR THAT CHANGES THE WORLD” / “STREAMS OF LIFE” – PRAYER AND LIFE

The first book was written by Rev. Dr. Dick Eastman and is about prayer. The book presents a simple prayer plan on how to divide one’s devotional time into 12 scripture-themed segments, with particular emphasis on using prayer to transform the world we live in. The latter book by Dr. Peter Liu is a collection of his sermons, compiled for in-depth study by readers. The messages pour forth like living waters from God’s throne of grace, delivering the lively word of God to cast out doubt and obstacles in believers’ faith. It provides clear guidance for serving in ministry and spiritual life. Both books will have 20,000 reprinted in APAC. Please pray that these books will enrich the spiritual life of the readers.

LOCAL OIKOS OUTREACH MINISTRY

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10). Pray for the safety of the OIKOS outreach volunteers as they often encounter opposing forces.

  1. Sis Alice:73 year old Mdm. Lim was forced to wait outside her home as her digital lock was not opening. We happened to be distributing tracts at her block and this gave us a good opportunity to share the Gospel with her. She happily opened her heart to accept the Lord after hearing our message. Thank God for His amazing guidance, for He wants all to be saved and none to perish.

Today, we encountered the tall and good-looking youth, Kawanraja from India, who was in Singapore for vacation. After we shared the Gospel with him, he did not hesitate to pray to accept Christ. He nodded in agreement as we told him there was only one God and he could speak with Him through prayer. Before we left, we gave him a copy of the Gospel of John and taught him how to pray and study the Bible. Thanks be to God for our chance meeting with him and please pray for God to strengthen his faith.

  1. Sis Corinne:After I finished tract distribution at the flats along one street and were proceeding to the next, I heard someone shouting at me. As I reached the main road, I was shocked to see a fast approaching man staring angrily at me. “Lord, what should I do? Should I run away?” I thought to myself. His arms were flailing about as he rushed towards me, which reminded me of those unprovoked assault incidents. I hurriedly ran towards the cross junction but the light had turned red, so I could only pray as he caught up with me. Right at that moment, there were no more cars on the road so I quickly dashed across before more cars came along. The man was stuck on the other side and his screaming slowing disappeared as he walked away to who knows where. I walked a little further and calmed myself before reaching out to the flats along another 2 streets. Thanks be to God for listening to my prayer and protecting me from danger.
  2. Sis Geok Lan & Melliza:Sis. Geok Lan and her outreach partner Melissa came today to pick up tracts for distribution. They excitedly shared how they got to know each other. Sis. Melissa had always wanted to do door-to-door evangelism and had been praying for the opportunity. During a Bible study group where she was the group leader, Sis. Geok Lan’s domestic helper told her about Sis. Geok Lan’s tract outreach work, and she quickly asked the helper to link her up with Sis. Geok Lan. They quickly became ministry partners with their shared evangelistic burden and met weekly to distribute tracts. We thank God for His miraculous leading and pray for His blessings upon their footsteps of evangelism.
