FEED 5,000 CAMPAIGN – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Cameroon: Students evangelized bravely in their campuses in Bertoua-East province, and this has spread to many schools. Pray for the Lord to lead these passionate youth as they evangelize with wisdom amidst restrictions in schools and bestow them with courage to lead their fellow students to Christ and away from the bondage of sin.
  2. B) EHC Uganda: The team’s outreach results for April were encouraging, with many converts from the offshore islands who were former drug addicts. The follow-up visits revealed that these new believers were sincere in putting themselves in the hands of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Pray for more unsaved souls to discover new life in the Gospel.
  3. C) EHC Mozambique: In the tumultuous province of Cabo Delgado, there are many displaced locals and hurt families who are served by the team. Religious extremism and civil unrest are a never-ending scourge here. Pray for the suffering people to receive God’s healing. The church here is encouraged by the outcome of their Easter ministry, which brought many locals to accept Christ and get baptized. Pray for their steady growth in the Lord.

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN SINGAPORE MINISTRY PLANNING AND CHALLENGES

Since the founding of CCIS, the committee has been devoted to labouriously planning and promoting the ministry event every year so that those who have yet to hear the Gospel can know the Christmas Good News of Jesus coming to save the world. This is a momentous mission which would have barely moved forward without the support and generosity of the churches and brethren, and we continue to look towards God’s provision for the $350,000 budget we need to raise! The committee is organizing a 20-table fundraising dinner on 09 September at Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine. We are thankful that one generous brethren already donated $5,000 towards the cause. The restaurant is quite spacious and can accommodate more tables, so we hope more brethren would lend their support to the fundraising efforts to raise more funds for the ministry expenses and arrears. Please pray for this year’s 22nd anniversary event to bring us together to reach out to countless thirsting and weary souls with Christ’s Gospel of peace!

NEW COMIC TRACT – “GOD KNOWS MY NAME”

SEHC has released a new comic tract, “God Knows My Name”! Its exciting content inspires the little ones to learn about the Gospel and receive Jesus Christ and eternal life. The tract uses lively comics and easily understood words to help children know the all-knowing God and His love and mercy, and how Jesus sacrificed Himself to bring amazing salvation for sinners. The tract ends with a short prayer of dedication to accept Jesus. Crime statistics have shown a trend that points to an increase of younger offenders, so we need to urgently seize the golden opportunity when their hearts are young and teachable to win them for the Saviour. Pray for more brethren to use this tract actively in outreach to lead the young ones to know Christ.

DISCIPLESHIP AND GOSPEL BREAKTHROUGHS IN CREATIVE ACCESS REGIONS

EHC Country G: Some of the children of the team’s members have just enter adolescence or adulthood and face serious crises of faith. Pray for the Lord to guide them in finding the real meaning of life and return to the Lord to find guidance to walk out from their doubt, so that they can receive renewed spirits and stronger faith.

EHC Country K: Religious freedom is absent here and those who evangelize are seen as traitors to their ancestral beliefs. Pray for the Lord to raise powerful ambassadors of peace for the Gospel to reach out to the oppressed people and help them find true freedom in the truth.

EHC Country N: God opened the way for the team to reach out at three new hospitals, an orphanage, and a senior care centre. Pray for God to bless the gospel seeds they sow so that countless ailing patients, helpless orphans, and isolated seniors learn to come to Jesus to receive God’s love and new hope.

“SIMPLIFIED CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY” / “1 TIMOTHY” – HELPING YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE

The first book by Dr. James Yu points out that theology is not about digging into philosophical studies, but to use the simplest language to explain the key teachings of Christianity to others, helping them to know God, glorify God, and discover joy in God. The latter book by Rev. Liu Dao-shun is divided into six chapters, with topics such as Conflict Between God’s Word and Pagan Teachings, The Priesthood of the Church, Serving the Church As We Serve Family, Obeying God’s Commands, and Unto Christ’s Return. Both books promote spiritual development. Pray for their use by God in His work and for the publisher’s safety.

“A DIFFERENT LIFE” / “NOTES ON MY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES” – LIFE IN CHRIST

The first book was written by Dr. Peter Liu. While its context is based heavily on life in North America, the principles of truth are in alignment with God’s word. Even though not everything within can be similarly applied to those living in other regions, it is undeniable that the best testimony is in how one lives their life wherever they are. The latter book by the late Rev. Hsueh Yu Kwong is a collection of his ministry and missionary writings, including devotional notes, complete sermons, and articles featured in various newsletters and magazines. We welcome the purchase of these two books available at our bookroom.

“RETURNING TO EDEN” / “DISCIPLESHIP COURSE BOOK 1” – BRINGING BIBLICAL TEACHINGS INTO DAILY LIFE

The first book was written by Sis. Yang Hong and has four chapters, including topics like Returning to Eden, Man and Woman, Marriage and Family, and The Mysteries of Life. The author reiterates that no marriage is complete smooth sailing. Both the husband and wife must continuously adapt themselves and understand that man and woman have different roles in marriage, each with their own glory, authority, and gifts from God, and must learn to accept each other as they are. The latter book by Elder Samuel Ching explains the teachings of Jesus to readers in simple words, guiding them in the following of His teachings so they can glorify God by living as examples of His beauty and virtue. Pray for their use in ministry.

“GOSPEL EXPRESS” / “GOOD NEWS FOR YOU” – TWIN TREASURES FOR EVANGELISM

Illustrated by Sis. Xiaoyu, the first booklet explains that God is love. He watches over every one of us with the heart of a loving father. People who are entangled in the matters of the world cannot know Him and are blinded by sin, so Jesus came to sacrifice His life and precious blood to redeem sinners. The latter booklet, by a God-loving sister in Christ, tells readers that God loves every person and wants us to be able to live with Him forever. Unfortunately, the people of the world desire to live by their own devices, which prevents us from overcoming sin on our own. This was why Jesus had to come to our world to dislodge us from the web of sin so that we can reconcile with God and have the hope of eternal life. Both booklets are excellent evangelistic tools for personal outreach. Please pray for their reprinting.

LOCAL OIKOS TRACT OUTREACH MINISTRY

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction.” (2 Timothy 4:2). Aside from giving out gospel tracts door-to-door, our OIKOS volunteers would also sometimes stop by at parks to share the Gospel with receptive people. Pray for God’s remembrance of their work.

  1. Philos A/G:We passed by a park and noticed 3 Bangladeshi men, so we walked over to chat with them. We shared the Gospel with 2 of them (the third seemed uninterested) and they were able to respond to us in simple English. They explained that they were here to look for work and had rented a room for almost 3 weeks, but have yet to receive their work permits, and so were constantly worried about their basic daily expenses like food. I invited them to visit our church on Sundays where they could receive free chicken buns and groceries. They were happy to hear that but were still concerned about their livelihoods. At that point of time, they were not yet ready to accept Christ. Both men who listened to my sharing were about 40+ years old while the third man was 25. Please pray for them so they can call out to the Lord and experience God’s help. Thank you.
  2. Sis See:Mdm. Cai had a slight hunchback and had trouble walking, but still made the effort to get to her door to speak with us. Mr. Cai soon joined the conversation. Both were believers of traditional Chinese religion. Just when we were about to share the key parts of the Gospel, their dog started barking furiously. We knew this was Satan’s ploy to hinder the Gospel, as Mdm. Cai had to go inside to calm the dog down.

Thanks be to God, Mr. Cai stayed on to hear our message. When we finished, he let us pray with him to receive Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. Glory to God!

We gave him a copy of the Gospel of John booklet and reminded him to read it daily. We told him he only needed to pray to the Lord each day, while we would arrange for a pastor from a nearby church to visit them and follow-up with Mdm. Cai, who could not finish listening to our message because she had to attend to the dog. Please pray for them.

  1. Sis Alice:77-year-old Mdm. Sarthe heard many stories about Jesus when she was young, but did not accept Christ. When she got married, she became a pagan religion follower with her husband. After hearing our sharing, she expressed that her daughter might strongly object to her attending church, but she bravely accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour with great faith. Glory to God! Please pray for God to edify her faith and to remove obstacles preventing her from going to church.
