FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Angola: After completing the outreach in Chamumi town, the team established Christ Groups for 70 new believers, hoping that members may be rooted and edified in Christ. However, as the Angolan government is introducing legislation to ban the formation of Christian groups, registering them as legal churches in the future will be extremely difficult. Pray that the Lord will open a way and help the church to overcome political limitations so they can continue planting and establishing churches.
  2. B) EHC Senegal: Since the beginning of the year, the team has been unable to find co-workers in some areas. The main reason was misunderstanding of the vision and values of EHC’s ministry, while some people were also unable to adapt to and accept it. Pray that the Lord will help us find a solution to this challenge which is having an impact on our goals to reach everyone!
  3. C) EHC Namibia: In July, their branch’s director passed away tragically in a car accident. May the Lord comfort and support his loved ones in their grief. The co-workers are also supporting one another in facing this unexpected trial. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance on the future direction of their ministry.

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN SINGAPORE (CCIS) FUNDRAISING AND PROGRAMME ARRANGEMENTS

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15). This is the message that the CCIS Committee has been proclaiming for the past 22 years, because Christ is the true reason for Christmas. The Committee calls upon our brothers and sisters in Christ to generously support this year’s ministry, working together to spread the Good News of Christmas. The operation cost of $350,000 is in no way a small burden, but the Committee looks forward to God’s provision through His people at the fundraising dinner on 09 September, to not only meeting the shortfall but also contributing in love to the Lord’s work. Please pray. As for performances, one local vocalist and two groups have confirmed their participation, and discussions with other performers are ongoing. Pray for smooth preparations for the Gospel Immersive Booth. Pray for all churches and brethren to actively respond, so that the Good News of Christ’s salvation will bring unexpected peace and hope in today’s turbulent world.

“BLESSINGS OF LIFE” - PRACTICING LIFE, GROWING SPIRITUALLY, AND RECEIVING BLESSINGS

Written by Bro. Li Mu Sheng, a pastor who continually experienced the cross and walked the path of serving God. Serving in a difficult era for faith, he was imprisoned four times and sentenced to a total of 16 years of imprisonment. He walked through the valley of the shadow of death, yet overcame it through the Lord, faithfully testifying for Christ. This book shares his experiences from scripture, life, and church, and is also the fruit of his years of practice and observation. The content is divided into two parts: The Balance of Life and Blessings of the Spring and Autumn Rain. Each topic begins with a verse of scripture. Using concise and clear writing, he points believers toward the right pursuit, how to rely on God’s mercy and protection, and how to live as children pleasing to Him. Pray for this book to awaken and revive readers spiritually. We encourage brethren to read it or gift a copy to others.

SEHC MINISTRY UPDATES - PLEASE PRAY FOR AND SUPPORT US

SEHC frequently promotes literary ministry through free book distribution. From April to August, 658 books and booklets were given to local and visiting pastors and brethren, including the president of Northern Myanmar Bible College and overseas Christians. Titles gifted include: 166 copies of “True Happiness Can Be Yours” (English, Chinese, and Tamil versions), which is helpful for pre-believers hoping to understand biblical truth, and other books such as the English devotional “Our Daily Focus” (68 copies), “Immanuel” (50 copies), “Journey of Life’s Growth” (41 copies), “The Blessed Woman” (22 copies), “Choices” (20 copies), “Handbook of Truth” (15 copies), “Back to Eden” (15 copies), “The God-Inspired Book” (15 copies), “Love on Its Knees” (15 copies), and 231 copies of other titles. We hope pastors and church leaders will join us in encouraging believers to develop the good habit of reading Christian books, thereby strengthening their foundation in faith and improving their spiritual growth.

EHC TEAMS’ EVANGELISM AND DISCIPLESHIP WORK IN CREATIVE ACCESS NATIONS

EHC in Country G: The team conducted outreach in both public and private schools nationwide, distributing gospel literature to students. Pray that the students will read the materials carefully, understand the Gospel, and accept Jesus as Saviour, and also for the volunteers to be kept safe and able to complete their gospel mission.

EHC in Country P: Frequent incidents in the nation have caused church leaders to hesitate in conducting evangelistic work, worrying about the risks. This has created difficulties for the team in recruiting volunteers. Pray for God to raise reliable believers to fill the gap so that those who are called are full of wisdom and courage to advance the outreach ministry.

EHC in Country F: In countries where religion is restricted and church propagation is limited, Christ Groups bear the important role of nurturing and edifying new believers. Pray for God to strengthen the commitment of group leaders and volunteers as they teach Scripture to and help believers grow spiritually in Christ. May those in power open their hearts to the Gospel and receive wisdom from God to govern their nation.

“FROM THE GOD OF ANCIENT CHINA TO THE GOD WHO TRANSFORMS SUFFERING” AND “DEATH: THE END OF LIFE?” – COMBINED TRACT

The first tract by Dr. Dao Xin explains that ancient sages recognized a supreme God above all, yet within the human heart there is a self-centred prison that traps and separates people from God and causes them to feel self-important. Only by receiving Jesus can one be spiritually reborn and receive new life from God. The second tract, by Rev. Dr. Caleb Soo, explains that death is the result of separation from the source of life. The Bible calls this separation “sin” - the breaking of our relationship with God. In Christ, we gain a new perspective of death and new hope for life in the next world. This combined tract will be printed in the APAC region for outreach. Pray for the Lord to bless its use.

ASIA-PACIFIC EVANGELISM TESTIMONIES

1) Faith needs testimony, and life itself is the best witness of faith. He has five brothers, and their over-90-year-old mother suffers from cerebral atrophy and would sometimes lose mental clarity. The brothers agreed to take turns supporting her, with each family caring for her for one month. Every time it was his family’s turn, the mother would be the happiest, and the end of that month would be when she least wanted to leave, because his wife was the only Christian among the daughters-in-law and the most devoted in caring for her. Only true faith can produce true love, and with that a testimony of life. The Bible provides encouragement, wisdom, and guidance to help believers walk closely with the Lord in every season of life.

2) After his father passed away, he was raised by his mother who remarried. Although his stepfather treated him as his own, he resented the world and felt life was unfair because he did not grow up under his biological father’s care. After his mother and stepfather believed and repented, they brought him along to church, hoping God’s love would heal his heart. He went from resistance to arguing, until he was gradually softened by the love of the Lord and the church brethren and began a new life in Christ.

BASIC HOMILETICS” AND “LEGEND OF THE BIBLE” - HELPING YOU UNDERSTAND SCRIPTURE BETTER

The first book, “Basic Homiletics”, was co-authored years ago by Rev. Dr. Lukas Tjandra and Rev. Dr. Tan Kim Sai, companion to their earlier work, “Simple Bible Study and Hermeneutics” published by Tien Dao Publishing House of Hong Kong, serving as a supplement or extended volume to help young and adult believers who feel called to ministry by Christ learn how to preach. The second book, “Legend of the Bible”, was written by Rev. Elisha Wu using the chapter style of traditional Chinese novels to portray biblical stories, a channel to stir up the interest of the non-believers and lead them to the Salvation of Christ. It has 38 chapters. Both books are available for purchase through our bookroom.

“50 PARABLES OF JESUS” AND “PROBLEMS FACED BY PREACHERS” - APPLYING THE BIBLE IN REAL LIFE

The first book, by Elder Samuel Ching, carefully explains each parable told by Jesus in the four Gospels, shedding light on their background, meaning, spiritual lessons, and how to apply them in daily life and ministry. The second book by the late Rev. Yap Un Han is not a heavy theological treatise, but the distilled wisdom of an experienced pastor’s ministry. It covers the pastoral calling and dedication for young pastors to reflect upon, advice for their family life, and warnings of potential temptations and pitfalls. Pray for the Lord to use both books to build up readers spiritually.

“REMEMBERING THE SOURCE” AND “THE WAY TO A HAPPY LIFE” - THE FOUNTAIN OF JOY

The first book, by Bros. Dong Da Yuan and Pei Rui Ming, discusses Chinese perspectives on God and faith. It includes an in-depth analysis of why the Ming emperors built the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The second book, “The Way to a Happy Life”, is a Bible correspondence course authored by Rev. Dr. Johnny Lee. It has four lessons that clearly and systematically presents the basic doctrines of the Bible. Topics include: The Bible, God, Man, Sin, Jesus Christ, Eternal Life, Faith, Love, Hope, Bible Study, Prayer Life and Witnessing. “THE WORD OF LIFE: A CONCISE EXPLANATION OF JOHN’S GOSPEL” AND “OUTLINE OF 2 TIMOTHY” - SIMPLIFYING BIBLICAL TRUTHS FOR YOU

The first book, by Dr. James Yu, explains the Word of Life, which refers specifically to the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ. The truths it expounds are consistent with the central theme of the New Testament. It has 21 chapters, each beginning with a verse of scripture, followed by clear explanations of the scriptural teaching. The second book, by Rev. Liu Dao Shun, is divided into four chapters, exploring topics such as guarding your good ways, holding on to what you have learned and believed, and the need to preach God’s Word. This book analyses the essence of 2 Timothy, helping readers to understand it more deeply. Both books will each be printed in the APAC region. Pray that they help believers to grow in the truth.
