FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Burundi: The Burundi branch utilizes the training and equipping of pastors as its core strategy for widespread evangelism. They teach them how to go door-to-door to earnestly share the Gospel with every individual, rather than waiting in the church for people to show up automatically. Unfortunately, some pastors find it difficult to comprehend and accept this method of evangelism. Pray that God will open their eyes to the importance of door-to-door evangelism, so that they will readily cooperate with the team, step into the community with the love of Christ, and become fishers of men for the Lord.
  2. B) EHC Tanzania: The mission field in a certain region of this country is shrouded in spiritual darkness due to witchcraft and superstition. May the power of the Gospel shatter the strongholds of the evil one. Through the door-to-door outreach of our coworkers, may the people be enlightened, witness the power of the Gospel, and turn to Jesus. At the same time, may discipleship groups be established to nurture believers to grow in Christ. It is our hope that through the widespread propagation of the Gospel, youths will be guided by the Lord away from drugs, crime, and despair, allowing a next generation with godly values to rise up in this nation.
  3. C) EHC Democratic Republic of the Congo: During the local International Mission Month, this branch focused its outreach ministry on 36 schools in the Goma province. Pray that the Lord opens doors for the Gospel, guides the footsteps of every team, and grants them the strength to achieve their goal of evangelizing 12,600 students. May the power of the Gospel be manifested, moving the hearts of these students to turn to Jesus and experience transformed lives as new creations.

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS IN SINGAPORE (CCIS) PROGRAMMES AND FUNDRAISING

The war in the Middle East has dealt a severe blow to the global economy and is bound to add challenges to this year's Christmas ministry. Therefore, in addition to the fundraising dinner in the second half of the year, the committee organized a fundraising event at Lido Cinema at 7.15pm on 25 May screening the newly produced 3D animated film Animal Farm. The committee is deeply grateful to the Lord for all supporting brothers and sisters, and the total funds raised will be announced later. However, the massive annual operational budget continues to present a significant burden and the committee must still exert full effort in fundraising, hoping that the fundraising dinner scheduled for 08 September (Tuesday) at Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine restaurant will make up for the financial deficit. We earnestly appeal to all churches and brethren for their generous donations and intercessory prayers to support the committee. In this volatile and changing international climate, your support helps spread the Good News of the Gospel to every corner of our Lion City, ensuring that even visiting travelers can understand the great news of Jesus Christ's incarnation and His salvation for the world.

THREE REPRINTED CHINESE-ENGLISH BILINGUAL TRACTS FOR THE HARVEST FIELDS

Thanks be to God, the following three tracts were reprinted in April, with 20,000 copies produced for each title. Among them, the “Blessing (福)” tract has been slightly revised. Besides the Chinese New Year period, it is now suitable for year-round distribution. Another version of the same tract featuring a floral cover has similarly been revised and will be published soon, please look forward to it. The children's comic tract “Do You Know?” has entered its 28th print edition. With its vivid illustrations and engaging text, its simple and easy-to-understand gospel message makes it a tract that the brethren readily distribute to children. The tract “For God So Loved the World” explains the existence of the true God, showing that He is not only the Creator of all things but also the Saviour of mankind. We pray that churches and believers will widely utilize these three tracts to preach Jesus' soul-saving Gospel, partnering with SEHC to evangelize the whole of Singapore, increasing the numbers of the saved in churches, and expanding the citizens of the kingdom of heaven.

EHC TEAMS IN CREATIVE ACCESS REGIONS FEARLESSLY SPREAD THE GOSPEL

EHC Country G: Societal pressures and community restrictions in this country present immense barriers to many who desire to know Jesus more deeply. Pray that the Lord opens a way for seekers of His truth, granting them the courage to seek the Saviour, while also helping unemployed youths and families in distress find a glimmer of hope through hearing the Gospel.

EHC Country L: In a nation where religious faith is suppressed, some students face immense pressure because their parents are believers, encountering mockery and even bullying from classmates. Please pray for these children, that the peace of Jesus will become strength in their hearts, enabling them to endure the pressure from their peers and stand courageous and unyielding through the Lord.

EHC Country Z: The team is deeply grateful to the Lord for the increasing number of new believers. However, because churches are difficult to find, these new believers have no place to gather. Pray that the Lord provides conducive locations for them so that their faith and spiritual lives can grow. Additionally, please pray for those fleeing from persecution for their faith, asking the Lord to keep them safe.

USE OF SEHC TRACTS THIS APRIL BY CHURCHES AND BRETHREN

Many churches and believers who utilize our tracts and regularly purchase them have structured plans to go out and distribute them systematically. Whether in neighbourhood HDB estates, bustling shopping malls, or crowded streets, they obey the prompting of God in their hearts to spread the Good News of the Gospel through tract outreach. This group of God-loving people is highly zealous, paying for the tracts out of their own pockets and dedicating their time to distribute them. Their greatest motivation stems from having tasted the joy of salvation and the grace of forgiveness of sin, and they desire that those struggling in the abyss of sin may hear the Gospel and receive the living water of life. Good things must indeed be shared, just like the Samaritan woman whose life was transformed after meeting Jesus - she immediately became a witness for Him, enabling many others to receive the blessings of the Gospel (John 4:39). May the great love of the Lord compel every born-again Christian to diligently witness for Him, sowing gospel seeds by distributing the various tracts published by our ministry to lead people to salvation.

“WHEN WILL LIFE’S WORRIES END” – NEW LIFE IN JESUS

This tract was penned by the late Rev. Hsueh Yu Kwong. It describes how human life lasts only a few decades in this world. Apart from a few happy years in childhood, most of our days are spent living in anxiety and worry. However, if a person believes in Jesus, life gains a completely new meaning, shifting from a self-centered life to one that glorifies God and benefits mankind. This tract will be printed and distributed across the APAC region. Pray that it leads many to turn to the Lord.

“AN EXPOSITION OF ROMANS” AND “LEGEND OF THE BIBLE” – READING THE BIBLE IN DIFFERENT WAYS

The former book was written by Rev. Liu Dao Shun, and it can be described as the living and effective word preached from the mouth of a pastor. These words contain within them the essence of a pastor’s heart that loves and cares for unsaved souls. Hence, he does not hesitate to draw upon any beneficial knowledge available for the readers, using it to help them gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. The latter book was written by Rev. Elisha Wu, who presents biblical content using the style of traditional Chinese chapter-based novels. If more Christian writers can utilize their brilliant pens to depict Bible stories interestingly, the benefit to the entire nation and culture will be immense. Pray that these two books become a blessing to many.

“CLARIFYING CHRISTIAN FAITH” AND “THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT” – UNDERSTANDING BIBLICAL TRUTH

The former book was authored by Rev. Dr. Peter Wongso. All the faith-related questions in the book were provided by the chief editors of various publications, and the author replied only after prayer, meditation, and scholarly verification. The topics explored include the meaning of life, the Bible and faith, and Jesus and salvation. The latter book was written by Pastor Silas Wu, containing Bible study messages delivered during coworker gatherings and compiled from the audio recordings by the brethren. Pastor Silas Wu’s intensive reading and deep reflection on the Bible demonstrate three distinct characteristics: comprehensiveness, detail, and meticulousness. The book consists of seven chapters. Both books are on sale at our SEHC bookroom, and we welcome your purchase for personal reading or as gifts for others.

THE WAY TO A HAPPY LIFE” AND “BE A GREAT CHRISTIAN” – LETING CHRIST LEAD YOUR LIFE

The former booklet is a Bible correspondence course written by Rev. Dr. Johnny Lee, consisting of four lessons. It systematically outlines the fundamental doctrines of the Bible in simple and accessible language, covering topics such as the Bible, God, and Man. The latter book was authored by Dr. James Yu, combining two books he previously wrote – “Christian Analysis” and “The Blessed Fellowship”. The author explores the scientific principles of faith, addressing the theological, ethical, social, and transcendent tests of a Christian. These two books will be printed in the APAC region to follow up on and nurture new believers and longer-time Christians alike. Pray for the Lord to use them in His work.

“EMPEROR OF THE UNIVERSE” AND “GOSPEL EXPRESS” – TWIN TREASURES FOR EVANGELISM

The former booklet was written by Rev. Dr. Dick Eastman as a special invitation for readers to come and know the Emperor of the Universe. This booklet aims to help readers find the source of life, truth, hope, and joy. The latter booklet was illustrated by Sis. Xiao Yu (“Little Fish”), conveying the message that God is love. He regards everyone with the heart of a loving father, causing the sun to rise on both the good and the evil. Those entangled in worldly affairs often have their spiritual eyes blinded by sin, and only by trusting in the Lord Jesus can one be truly saved. Both booklets are excellent tools for evangelism. May the Lord use them for His kingdom.

LOCAL OIKOS OUTREACH MINISTRY UPDATES

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the Gospel the righteousness of God is revealed - a righteousness that is by faith from first to last (Romans 1:16-17).

  1. Philos A/G(Rev. Yeo Pin Pin):At an HDB park, I encountered an elderly man sitting in a wheelchair. I wanted to chat with him, but his domestic helper said he could not speak, which seemed to end our conversation. However, from the helpless look in his eyes, I could tell he wanted me to keep talking. Thus, using simple and clear Mandarin, I told him how Jesus loves him, what sin is, the cross, forgiveness, belief, and heaven. As he listened, he looked at the illustrations on the Gospel tract. When I asked if he was willing to believe in Jesus, he replied "yes" in a very weak voice. I asked him again, and he still answered "yes", so I led him in the sinner's prayer. Though his voice was faint, he made every effort to follow and repeat after me. Praise the Lord, he has accepted Jesus as his Saviour! He is 83 years old; may God strengthen his faith and guide the growth of his new life.
  2. Sis. Elle Phee:Today I conducted a follow-up visit with Mdm. Tam, who was very cheerful and friendly. She mentioned that her brother-in-law is a pastor, and that others, including her neighbours, had shared the Gospel with her before. However, she was not very clear on why one must believe in Jesus, still maintaining that believing in any deity is the same. Thank the Lord, she eventually permitted me to offer a prayer of blessing for her.

Afterward, I visited another elderly man in his 80s who lives alone. He shared that his wife stays with her mother most of the time, and his daughter in Japan rarely returns. Having undergone hip surgery, he has difficulty walking. He used to attend church and a pastor had prayed for him before. Though he is not yet ready to accept Jesus, he welcomes us to visit. May God show mercy, and may the Holy Spirit move them until they turn to the Lord.

  1. Sis. Tan:Praise the Lord, last year an OIKOS volunteer led Sis. Lim to make a commitment to Christ. Since she is elderly, dislikes going out, and cannot attend church services, I frequently visit to care for her and gave her a Bible. Every time I lead her in prayer, she willingly repeats after me word for word. She is grateful that her son's work has been smooth and his health good lately, and I often encourage her to pray about everything daily to draw close to God.

When visiting her again today, I noticed she was filled with joy and felt deeply grateful in my heart. I accompanied her to read Genesis, sharing about God’s wonderful creation and His great power; we also listened and sang along to the Hokkien hymns “Lord Jesus Knows My Heart”, “Hold My Hand”, and “Jehovah is Love”, experiencing the Lord's presence and comfort through the music. May God continue to guide Sis. Lim to grow in faith, and may she be protected and cared for by the Lord all her life. Amen!
