The Way Out from a Dead End
By Elder Samuel Ching
In life, eight or nine out of ten things often do not go as desired. In recent years, with global economic volatility and fierce competition, many people face work pressure, unemployment, failed investments, financial distress, poor health, and more, leaving their hearts filled with anxiety, depression, and unease. Where can true help be found?
The word of God, the Bible, tells us: In ancient times, when God's people faced adversity, they prayed to God, saying, "I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:1-2). The Lord is the one and only true God who created the universe and all things. Humanity was created by Him, and our help comes from Him.
He not only created a uniquely blessed earth for people to inhabit and provided all things on earth for people to enjoy, but when all people sinned, fell away, and turned away from Him, He prepared salvation for the world.
Jesus Christ - The Saviour Prepared for Us by God
God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to come into the world as a human, proclaim the truth, heal the sick, cast out demons, and show compassion to the distressed. Finally, according to biblical prophecy, Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day, conquering death and the grave. After spending forty days with His disciples, He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God's throne. All who accept Jesus as Saviour can attain God's salvation.
Those Who Believe in Jesus Will Never Be Cast Out
Jesus said, "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37). This is a faithful promise from Jesus. Over the years, the author has witnessed many wondrous experiences of people after they believed in Jesus.
Some were originally trapped in desperate straits and found a way out from a dead end after believing in Jesus; some used to suffer from long-term anxiety and depression but became filled with peace and joy in their hearts; some were physically weak and sickly and were transformed to enjoy body-and-mind health. Such true testimonies are ubiquitous.
A Testimony of Despair Turning into Hope
During a gospel rally in which the author was the preacher, a businessman shared his testimony:
Upon graduating from high school, he was admitted to his desired university in Canada, but due to his father's business failure and bankruptcy, his family could not afford to fund his further education. In despair, he walked to an overpass, ready to jump down and commit suicide. As he stepped out, sudden fear gripped him, and recalling hearing that "Jesus is the Saviour" in primary school, he cried out with tears: "Lord Jesus, I don't want to die, please save me!" An inner voice immediately spoke to him: "Do not jump, go home!" Sensing that this was Jesus' response, he went home.
That night, a classmate with whom he was not usually close suddenly called, stating that he was a Christian and sharing the Gospel with him. Believing this to be the prompting of Jesus, he immediately prayed to accept Jesus as his Saviour, and his heart was filled with peace.
A few days later, the classmate told him that his Christian parents were willing to sponsor his one-way plane ticket and a week of living expenses. They also gave him a Bible. He was deeply moved.
After boarding the plane, he read the Bible and came to understand Jesus' salvation even more. Upon arriving in Canada, God moved a Christian couple to host him with free accommodation and introduced him to a job washing dishes at a restaurant. While studying and working part-time, he achieved excellent grades and even won a scholarship.
After graduating and returning to Hong Kong, he found a good job, later started a successful business, and was elected as one of Hong Kong's Ten Outstanding Young Persons. He established a family, supported his parents, and led his entire family to believe in the Lord.
He testified that "I was originally so desperate that I wanted to end my life, but Jesus saved me, bringing me from death to life, from despair to hope, and from sorrow to joy."
Jesus Loves You!
Dear friends, Jesus is the Saviour of humanity and your Saviour, too. He loves you with everlasting love! No matter what your current situation or circumstances may be, He loves you with an unchanging, unconditional love.
You may ask then, how can I receive Him?
Jesus said, "Whoever comes to me I will never drive away." What does it mean to come to the Lord? It means that when you sincerely pray to Him, He will surely forgive all the sins you have committed throughout your life, and by His Holy Spirit enter your heart, be with you, watch over you for the rest of your life, and in the future your soul will also be able to go to heaven instead of going to hell. How blessed that is! We earnestly invite you to speak out and pray to Jesus by following the prayer below:
"Lord Jesus, I am willing to accept You as my Saviour. Please forgive all the sins I have committed in my life, enter my heart, and grant me Your Holy Spirit and life. Thank You, God, for never casting me away. I put my trust in You. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen (meaning let it be so)."
