FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA
- A) Cameroon EHC: Given the frequent road accidents that cause many victims, the Christians of Bertoua in Eastern Cameroon now invest in public transport by making the trip from Bertoua to Yaoundé and back, with the aim of preaching the gospel during the trip. This activity has already resulted in 62 new converts in the month of May alone. Besides, the local peoples in the Sirak village in the Far North of Cameroon are strongly attached to mysticism and idolatry. The evangelical invasions of May made it possible to collect up to 284 positive responses, the follow-up of which requires particular devotion.
- B) Malawi EHC: Many people have not harvested enough maize to last them to the next harvest season in Malawi - pray that Christians would find hope and encouragement to persevere in this difficult time, and also to be witnesses of God’s light even in the midst of the trials and lack that they are facing.
- C) Cape Verde EHC: We thank God for the opportunity to mobilize many churches and volunteers for evangelism in different municipalities in the country. Hundreds of lives were impacted with the gospel message, many people came to Christ, and some accepted Baptism. Churches grew with new members and pastors were impacted. However, we have had some robberies in some communities, which has caused an environment of great fear and insecurity. This hinders our house-to-house evangelization project, as people are more and more closed off, and very afraid to receive people at their door or in their homes. Pray that the government can fight these robberies in the neighborhoods.
PREPARATIONS AND FUNDRAISING FOR CCIS 2023
CCIS shoulders a challenging mission to make sure that the Gospel can be heard by all. However, we need the co-labour of fellow believers and your tireless intercession to make this soul-saving endeavour successful. As Christmas is getting nearer, let us pray with one heart for: those in power and authority, the nation and the people, continued stability and peace, and for His blessings upon the grand opening of our event celebrating Christ’s birth along Orchard Road. We hereby call upon our fellow brethren to come and join us in proclaiming the Good News of heaven. Apart from petitioning for the Lord’s provision in prayer, we will also organise a fundraising dinner (at $2,000 for each table of 10) to raise the necessary event budget. The committee is also exploring the use of prayer cards for reaching out to individual believers and encouraging them to support CCIS through smaller love offerings. This will start with e-cards and, if viable, we would produce bookmarks and distribute them to the brethren we know, so more people can have a part to play in this gospel ministry. For programme preparations, the committee has finished sending out invitations to all our local and overseas partners and have invited local churches to take up active roles in the event, such as putting up choir performances to sing about the birth of the Lord. Please pray for and lend us your support!
PLEASE PRAY FOR AND SUPPORT THE SEHC MINISTRY
1. Commencement of the OIKOS Project: The project aims to spread the message of salvation from Jesus Christ across our island using tracts delivered personally to every home. This of course requires large quantities of gospel tracts so a significant increase in printing and other related costs is expected. We appeal to all brethren to unite with us in this mission to save souls for heaven by participating in the outreach at various housing estates, raising your hands in prayer to ask for God’s grace upon the ministry, or to generously support the costs needed for tract production, distribution, and other relevant expenses. All of these are pleasing offerings to the Lord that enable more people to hear the Gospel for the first time in their lives and receive blessings for their souls to find eternal salvation.2. SEHC is Looking for a Used Gospel Van: A gospel van is an indispensable vehicle for SEHC’s ministry. Our current van is already quite old and while still somewhat useable, has become rather unreliable. We appeal to the brethren to lend us your support, either by selling a used van that is still working well to us at a discounted goodwill price or donating towards the funds needed for purchasing the replacement van. Your generosity shall surely be reciprocated by the blessings of our loving Lord.
“DO YOU KNOW?” – AN ILLUSTRATED TRACT SUITABLE FOR YOUNG AND OLD
This bilingual Chinese-English tract features lively illustrations and an eye-catching title in large fonts. Using simple language to explain the Gospel to readers, the message within is clear and concise for the elderly and the young alike. Since its initial release in 2003 till this day, 710K copies have been produced, demonstrating how popular it is with evangelists and readers. Brethren from Charis Full Gospel Church had been visiting housing estates in Macpherson every Tuesday and Wednesday, rain or shine, to give out this tract and share the Gospel since last May. In the short span of 13 months, 160 new believers from all walks of life have already been saved through this outreach, including a 93-year-old senior and a 9-year-old child! Thanks and praise be to God! Please pray for God to lead the new brethren to churches in Macpherson near their homes to meet and worship, and for more brethren to make use of this tract to reach out to the elderly and the young ones to help them know Christ.
“KNOWING THE TRUE GOD” AND “WHO CAN I DEPEND ON” – HELPING YOU TO KNOW HIM
These two tracts by Elder Samuel Ching are now printed as a combo tract, with the first tract explaining that there is only one true God, creator of all, and that idolatry cannot bring peace, for only faith in Jesus Christ leads one to real peace and joy, while the second tract tells us that when one calls out to God in times of trouble, He will certainly answer our prayers and bring joy and peace into our hearts. The tract will have 2 million copies printed for the APAC. Pray for their use in God’s work.
“SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY VOLS. 1 & 2” – INCREASING YOUR THEOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE
This work of Dr. Chang Lit-Sen covers the main domains of systematic theology including dogmatics, apologetics, Christian ethics, modern theology, doctrine of prayer, liturgical theology, missiology, Christology, pneumatology, and ecclesiology. The purpose of this set of books is to help churches and believers build pure and strong faith that can become a lasting foundation of divine truth to transform nations, peoples, and even the world. The books also explore topics in the domains of divine doctrine, theology of God, theology of humanity, and soteriology and make an ideal gift for brethren who love to gain insight into the theological wisdom of the Bible.
EVANGELISTIC BOOKLETS – “THE PERFECT PLAN” AND “7 QUESTIONS OF LIFE”
The first booklet was written by Chen Xi Le and describes how God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us and cleanse our sins with His blood because of His love. The lively illustrations help readers with understanding and absorbing biblical truth. Ford of Jabbock wrote the latter booklet that looks at life’s doubts and problems from the Christian perspective and discusses topics such as why one’s life feels powerless, why success is always so distant, why is life so unfair, and how one can find stability and security in life. Pray for the Lord’s use of these booklets suitable for new believers.
“KNOW THE TRUTH” AND “EXAMINING DARWIN’S EVOLUTION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE BIBLE, SCIENCE, AND REASON”
The first book above written by Dr. Zhang Yulan was a culmination of the classics he read, sermons he heard, and his experiences and observations. It explores topics such as the existence of God and whether the Bible was truly God-inspired, offering evidence that the Bible is indeed God’s word through the perspective of science. The latter book by Dr. Bill Wu discusses the theory of evolution – the hypothesis that life as we know it came to be as a matter of coincidence. The author points out areas where the theory lacks scientific validity and encourages readers to come humbly before their creator God. Both books are suitable for new believers, pray for their use by the Lord.
