FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA
- A) EHC DRC West: The safety index in the capital city, Kinshasa, has been on a rapid decline as human organ traffickers carrying firearms have been openly incapacitating passengers with drugged perfume on public transport and removing them to hidden locations to steal their organs such as the heart and kidneys. The streets were also filled with armed robbers from the Kuluna gang who snatch mobile phones and valuables, and some have even stabbed their unfortunate victims to death. A militia group called Mubondo in nearby Kwamouth was also rampantly committing arson and murder to assert control, slicing the throats of local leaders and razing entire villages to the ground. These appalling atrocities have severely threatened the safety of our co-workers and hindered outreach efforts. Please pray for the situation.
- B) EHC Eritrea: The Eritrean refugees who fled their homes because of the armed conflict with northern Ethiopia have yet to be rehomed. We thank the Lord for preparing an opportunity where the doors of the Gospel are wide open for evangelism. Pray for the co-workers to support and fulfill the needs of the lost and helpless refugees and lead them to rediscover hope in Jesus Christ.
- C) EHC Sierra Leone: Political instability in the country due to the defeat of the opposition parties in the recent election and their subsequent boycott of parliament has led to economic recession, social turmoil, and looming threats of insurgency. Torrential rains have also caused floods in many regions, and roads have become inaccessible as a result. All these were severely impacting society and the progress of evangelistic outreach. Despite the trying circumstances, the co-workers have remained steadfast and courageous in the Lord, continuing to bring the Gospel to every corner in various parts of the country. Many who were ravaged by sin, held in bondage by evil spirits, or suffering from serious diseases came to receive Christ and found forgiveness, liberation, and healing. More than a few broken families were also restored in the love of God.
CCIS PREPARATIONS AND FUNDRAISING
Time flies and September has arrived once again, which means we need to hasten our footsteps in our preparations for the event. We now have 19 overseas performers onboard. Pray for the Lord to lead them as they train and rehearse for the celebration. YFC Singapore is also busily preparing for their community care and gospel outreach booth. “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17). This verse forms the basis of the theme for this year’s CCIS and we hope to tell the world of the salvation and reconciliation with God brought to humankind by Jesus Christ. We appeal to the churches and brethren to raise their hands in prayer with us and support the event’s budget with their joyful and willing offerings. The fundraising dinner is slated for 03 October 2023, and there are currently unsold tickets for 6 tables (at an offering of S$2,000 each). Pray for the Lord to move the hearts of supporters. Pray also for the appeal letters to be sent to the churches, so that more brethren would generously lend their support towards fulfilling the glorious Great Commission. In this Christmas season celebrated across the world, let us sing of the birth of the Lord with beautiful hymns and share God’s blessings and love with countless hearts.
GHANA PARTNERS TURNING LIVES AROUND TO KNOW CHRIST
|
|
| The Ghana Partners brought their vision to save souls to the eastern part of their nation, where the regional capital, Koforidua, was located. The region had a population of about 1.6 million and the Partners reached out to residents of the villages in the hills and valleys, many of whom were blinded by the lies of evil spirits (2 Corinthians 4:4) and lived pitifully. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can deliver them from darkness and deception. Many of their youngsters these days live in sin, such as engaging in online scams, homosexuality, drug addiction, and early pregnancy out of wedlock – with some irresponsibly abandoning their unwanted newborns. These people mess up their own lives but blame it on hexes placed on their families and turn to witches and shamans for cures, which leads them even further away from God. The Partners went from house to house to distribute the “Who Is the True God” tract and prayed for anyone who professed to have a religion so they can find God. As a result, many have abandoned the false beliefs through the Holy Spirit’s enlightening and found Christ. Among these people, 32 were former pagans and many of them worked as prostitutes. Please pray for their newfound faith in Christ so they can stand firm against resistance and persecution from their communities and former religious leaders. Please also pray for the repented prostitutes and scammers who have turned over a new leaf and took up honest employment. The local church pastors have agreed to follow up with new believers and more churches have also come onboard the outreach ministry to help save souls that have fallen into the devil’s clutches. Pray that the cities would be turned towards Christ soon and for the cessation of human sacrifice by witch doctors. Finally, pray for the Partners’ outreach ministry and for the God-loving church elder couple who sponsor the cost for printing 100,000 tracts. Thanks be to God! May the Gospel continue to spread to many and lead them to salvation in Jesus Christ! |
SEHC MINISTRY UPDATES – PLEASE PRAY FOR AND SUPPORT US
Throughout the generations, God raised literary workers to compile what they learnt from His word into books to keep as spiritual reserves for believers who came after to draw upon. SEHC is committed to the continuation and development of this literary ministry. Apart from publishing spiritual books, we endeavour to promote the habit of reading among the brethren through the gifting of complimentary books to churches and believers. This July, we gave away 794 books to churches and brethren in Singapore and Malaysia, including “Analysing the Lightning from the East” (200, Christian Federation of Malaysia) and “Spiritual Notes” and “The Practice of the Presence of God” (60 each, Tampoi Holy Word Church, recommended for volunteers of the Children’s Camp). Titles given to local churches and brethren in Singapore include: Take Flight on Your Wings (154), The Transformed Life (59), Our Daily Focus (51), Love On Its Knees (30), The Prayer Adventure (25), True Happiness Can Be Yours (21), and various other titles (134). We welcome all brethren to drop by and bring home some of these books for an edifying read that will surely provide sustenance to your spiritual life.
HOLD MY HAND FOR LIFE – THE COVENANT OF MARRIAGE
![]() |
| A local counselling centre shared that the number of couples seeking counselling for divorce was on an increasing trend, with many being married for 5 years or less. About half of the cases resulted from extramarital affairs related to the workplace - many couples worked long and hard to improve their lives, and in the process unwittingly formed intimate relationships from frequent contact with colleagues of the opposite sex, resulting in the risky temptation of adultery. After work, household chores and caring for the children became another source of conflict and stress, and husband and wife had hardly any time left to share their feelings, eventually leading to widening rifts in their marriage. The author, Elder Peter Liu, shows readers the true meaning of marriage from a biblical lens and helps couples to make their union pleasing to God through learning to be frank and open with each other and running their marriage with mutual humility and forgiveness as one body in Christ. The author shares his personal experiences and his observations of other brethren’s success and failures to explain how a beautiful and wholesome family is built. His advice can help to mend many emerging cracks in a marriage and we call upon pastors and marriage counsellors to recommend this book to your congregations and clients. In this corrupted and promiscuous era, it is critical for us to safeguard our marriages and families from ungodly influence to stay as a clear stream of godliness that can bear good witness for the Lord. |

“THE JOURNEY OF GRACE” AND “7 STEPS TO BLESSINGS” – ADDING BLESSING TO YOUR LIFE
“The Journey of Grace” is a book by Bro. Li Jinghang and shares about his journey to know and receive God’s grace. He had experienced the grace and presence of God personally throughout his life, and witnessed how God always stood by him, His almighty arms embracing and protecting him with boundless love. Ford of Jabbock wrote the latter book, which tells readers the key to obtaining God’s blessings. To receive eternal blessings, we need only to place our faith and belief in Christ. No matter how much we strive, we can never cleanse ourselves of sin. Only God, by the power of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, can do so for us. These books are suitable for new believers. Pray for them to be used mightily by God.
“GOSPEL Q&A” AND “LEGEND OF THE BIBLE” – HELPING YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE BETTER
“Gospel Q&A” was written by Elder Samuel Ching and consists of 11 chapters that aim to help believers equip themselves for effective evangelism and answer the common questions of new believers with guidance from the Holy Spirit to draw them closer to Christ. The latter book by Rev. Elisha Wu is presented in a chapter-based novel format with a total of 38 chapters that present biblical teachings as stories. Lively illustrations help readers to understand the biblical teachings more easily. Pray for these books to help more readers acquire a clearer understanding of the Bible.
