FEED 5,000: EVANGELISM IN AFRICA
- A) EHC Kenya: The extreme weather here affected many aspects of life and society adversely. Nomads lost their food and water sources from extended droughts, and even the gospel ministry was badly hit and ground to a halt. When rain finally came not too long ago, it was ironically in heavy torrents which caused floods that destroyed homes and property and displaced many. The children’s ministry which the EHC team planned was also hindered by the incessant rain and could not proceed. Livelihood issues then inevitably led to rising crime rates, and we pray for God’s guidance to allow the authorities to come up with suitable solutions. The team hopes to reach out to more families to bring the Gospel’s hope to the needy. Please pray for their ministry.
- B) EHC Zambia: The Mukobeko Correctional Facility in Zambia houses a group of formerly dejected and helpless women whose lives were transformed after the EHC Zambia co-workers visited them and led them in discipleship training. They now diligently study the Bible and pray every day. May the truth of life take root in their hearts and empower them to walk with the Lord.
- C) EHC Mali: Terrorists and rebels in this country had caused much instability in society but could not stop the footsteps of EHC’s gospel ambassadors from evangelizing door-to-door. God’s protection enabled them to continue delivering the Gospel amidst the unrest and persecution. Pray for God to bless their year-end outreach so that the locals will open up to them and come to know God.
CCIS 2023 SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED WITH SUPPORT FROM CHURCHES AND BRETHREN
The tireless efforts and preparations of the CCIS Committee culminated in the joyous event on Orchard Road in December. They had to ensure that all key areas were properly managed, including the stage and tentage permits, the premises, the performances and programmes, and the hosting, transport, food, and lodging of overseas performers. The event lasted a total of seven days and presented the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ, to the visitors through brilliant performances and activities put up by the churches and performers. The interactive gospel booths also played a critical role to convey the Gospel message to visitors. We are most grateful to God for the success of this year’s event to fulfill the Great Commission. We hope for the Good News of His Incarnation to be etched deeply in the hearts of our audience. Even though the hymns and performances have ended, the sound of their beautiful message will continue to echo in the hearts of visitors and motivate them to seek out Emmanuel, our Lord and Saviour who dwells with us, so that they can find forgiveness of sin and receive peace, joy, and the hope of eternal life. The CCIS Committee sincerely thank every church and brethren who supported and collaborated with us on this wonderful event. Let all glory be unto our heavenly Father who loves us and sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us and redeem us from the clutches of sin!
PRAYERS AND SUPPORT FOR SEHC MINISTRY
From October to December, SEHC gave out 1,294 books and booklets to local churches and brethren, with titles including The Best Gift (220), The Perfect Plan (100), Time To Fly (355), Emmanuel (Christmas Comic) (200), Our Daily Focus (61), True Happiness Can Be Yours (60), Love on Its Knees (37), and 261 books of various other titles. We hope every brethren would make plans to read more in the coming new year to nourish your spirit and achieve new heights in your faith.
THANKSGIVING APPRECIATION GATHERING AT SEHC
SEHC held our OIKOS appreciation gathering on 23 November. The gathering was attended by twenty brethren, including Sis. Wong who conducts outreach together with her three children who are our youngest volunteers, the passionate tract evangelist Rev. Yeo Pin Pin, Ps. Deborah who came to know Christ because of a tract, and our board directors Rev. Choo and Rev. Lee. After a sumptuous buffet lunch, we came together to give thanks and share testimonies. Rev. Kao set the ball rolling with an encouragement from Matthew 9:35-39, reminding everyone that the harvest is ripe and we ought to make good use of the remaining time to save more souls and serve God before the Lord returns. Ps. Deborah shared that years ago, she experienced extreme emptiness in life and suffered greatly. When she was on the brink of suicide, she was saved by a gospel tract that led her to know Christ. From then on, she became an active proponent of tract evangelism. Even though she would meet with cold rejection at times or even get complaints against her, she did not give up. In the OIKOS ministry, she focuses on the Chai Chee district where she does her tract outreach to share God’s grace with others and encourages fellow brethren to participate. Ps. Dorothy (Mrs. Kao) also shared a similar experience of being introduced to Jesus by a tract, and when she joined the SEHC ministry, her life became inseparable from gospel tracts. Other brethren shared about the tears and joys of their participation in the OIKOS tract outreach, their achievements in the Lord, and how they experienced His presence as He guided and comforted them in their ministry. Thanks and praise be to God – all these testimonies have demonstrated to us once again that home-to-home tract outreach is pleasing to God’s will and an indispensable part of fulfilling the Great Commission. “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” (Psalm 126:5-6)
SHARING TRUE BLESSINGS IN CNY
In the ancient times when Job lived, people already knew that peace and blessings came from God. The SEHC CNY tangerine bags reiterates this with the verse “Submit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” (Job 22:21). Unfortunately, this ancient wisdom has become twisted by the devil today, who blinded the world’s eyes and equated material wealth and riches with blessings. In the end, not only did we miss out on true blessings, but we end up burning our lives and suffer to chase after material gain. We hope more churches and brethren would make use of these tangerine bags, together with SEHC’s “Blessings” tract and exquisite ang pow packets during CNY outreach, fellowships, and family gatherings to reach out to relatives and friends, so they can discover the true origin of all blessings and receive the greatest blessing of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
“NEW BELIEVER’S COURSE” AND “LIFE’S BLESSINGS” – UNDERSTANDING BIBLICAL TRUTH
The first book is Elder Samuel Ching’s work, a course textbook with 15 chapters that each has its own thematic Bible verse and simple to understand explanations. The course also includes a timetable for cultivating spiritual life that helps readers to apply what they have learnt. Bro. Musheng wrote the latter book, compiled from an extensive range of short works and featuring a total of 168 articles. Every article begins with a Bible verse, which the author expounds for the readers’ understanding of God’s word. We Christians must follow God’s will if we wish to see positive change in our lives, and these books are ideal for new believers to set up their foundation in faith. Please pray for their use.
